DCS Awarded Stronger Connections Grant

Deposit CSD awarded Stronger Connections Grant
Grants to support the expansion of safe, healthy, and supportive learning opportunities and environments

The Deposit Central School District is among 44 schools across New York selected to receive a Stronger Connections Grant through the U.S. Department of Education and The New York State Education Department. The competitive grant program, authorized under the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2022, is intended to support high-need Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) in establishing safe, healthy, and supportive learning opportunities and environments, and to prevent and respond to acts of bullying, violence, and hate that impact our school communities at individual and systemic levels. Deposit CSD has been awarded a grant totaling $582,000. Specifically, the money has been earmarked to continue the District’s work with the community schools initiative, to provide counseling services to families, and to provide training opportunities for staff. The grant period will last through September 2026.

"In a time when funding cuts are threatening our small schools, we’re thrilled to have been chosen to receive this grant," said Denise Cook, DCS Superintendent of Schools. "The money will be used to continue the good work that’s happening with family outreach - including the continuation of counseling services - and staff education that will help us meet the needs of all our students. We’re thankful for the help of our grant writing partners at RJ Miller & Associates for working with us to secure this and other grant opportunities."
