Trip to Roberson one to remember for DCS Elementary students

Talk about making memories!

On Friday, December 1, Mrs. Andresen and Mrs. Stevens took their third graders on a holiday field trip they're sure to remember to Binghamton's Roberson Museum and Science Center. The trip was the official kick off of the students' "Holidays Around the World" unit.
Students enjoyed a visit to the Roberson Planetarium and its “Seasons of Light” show about the winter solstice and the important role light has played throughout winter celebrations in history. Following the light show, students stepped back in time more than 100 years, as they enjoyed a guided private tour of the magnificent 26-room mansion, a gift to our community from Alonzo and Margaret Roberson. They learned a lot about the Robersons and their historic home.

To wrap up their day, the students set off on the International Forest Scavenger Hunt where they browsed various holiday displays from around the world to locate holiday symbols and identify which country they came from.

Thanks to Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Andresen and Kim Hilton for the wonderful photos!
