The school board election and budget vote will be conducted June 9, 2020, per Exec. Order 202.26. All voting will take place via absentee ballot. An absentee ballot will be mailed to all qualified voters in the Deposit Central School District.
A qualified voter must be:
* a citizen of the United States,
* at least 18 years old,
* and a resident of the Deposit Central School District for at least 30 days prior to the vote.
A person does not have to be a registered voter to be a “qualified” voter; however, owning a home in the district does not automatically make the owner a qualified voter eligible to participate in the school district election. A person can have only one legal residence that is his or her permanent home or domicile, which is the address used for income tax filing.
Not qualified to vote: A person is not qualified to vote if he or she is not eligible to register or vote in accordance with the New York Election Law, including: Paroled felons who have not been discharged from parole; A person adjudged as mentally incompetent. A person with a criminal conviction but not sentenced to jail or who has been pardoned or who served his or her maximum sentence and meets the qualified voter requirements is allowed to vote.
Absentee ballots have been mailed to each registered voter in the district. Qualified voters who do not receive an absentee ballot may contact the district clerk at 607 4675380 or by email at [email protected] to request a ballot. Completed ballots must be returned to the District Clerk (in the postage-paid envelope provided) by 5 p.m., June 9, 2020, to be canvassed.
