DCS High School students participate in Hamilton in Education Program

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, 16 high school students traveled to NYC to participate in the Hamilton in Education Program through the Gelder Lehrman Institute. To be eligible for the trip, students had to research the founding fathers of our country and create an original piece of work (poem, song, monologue, play) based on their research and submit five to10 questions for the actors to possibly respond to during a Q&A session. Once the students completed and submitted their work to the GL Institute, they were able to travel to Broadway to view the Tony Award-winning musical, Hamilton.  At the conclusion of the musical, several of the actors from the play answered questions that had been previously submitted; however, ours were not selected.  Along with seeing the show, students were able to experience riding the train from Beacon to Grand Central Station and meet several famous and historical figures at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum!
